Tony Hawk's Iconic Skate Memorabilia Fetches Millions at Julien's Auctions

Tony Hawk's iconic skateboarding memorabilia fetched impressive sums at Julien's Auctions, with proceeds supporting The Skatepark Project. The sale, described as historic by Martin Nolan, co-founder and executive director of Julien's Auctions, saw most items exceed pre-auction estimates.

The '900' Falcon 2 skateboard, ridden by Hawk to victory in the 'Vert Best Trick' and 'Vert Doubles' at the 1999 X Games, sold for a record USD$1,152,000. Hawk's 1999 X Games '900' helmet, sneakers, and knee pads also commanded high prices, selling for USD$115,200, USD$64,000, and USD$57,600 respectively. Notably, the Bronze Medal from the 1999 X Games 'Vert Singles' sold for USD$8,960, surpassing its pre-auction estimate of USD$4,000 - $6,000.

Two Powell-Peralta decks, a 1982 Signature Pro Model and a 'House Fire Survived' Pro Model, sold for USD$57,600 and USD$51,200 respectively. The auction included certificates of authenticity signed by Tony Hawk, adding to the items' value and collectability.

The auction of Tony Hawk's memorabilia at Julien's Auctions proved successful, with most items selling well above estimates. A significant portion of the proceeds will benefit The Skatepark Project, supporting over 700 global skate parks. Tony Hawk expressed his satisfaction with the sale, stating it was time to move on from these items while supporting a worthy cause.
